Doc and I adopted Tyler in 2006 from the Winchester SPCA. Her story is an endearing one for an awesome dog that has been our #1 pup for over 10 years now!
The trip to get Tyler started out like any typical engaged couple’s journey to the animal shelter. I distinctly remember saying, “We’re not getting a dog. We’re just looking.” Famous last words, huh?
So, we looked around the kennels. We saw some amazing dogs but none that really fit into our lives. Then, in the last cage sat Tyler. Her four-month-old tail was wagging as if we were old friends. I turned to Doc and said “If we were going to get a dog… We’d get this dog.” She was, and is, so cute!
So, I went to the front desk to ask if we could take her out on the leash and play with her in the yard. The kennel attendant told us that she had been recently abandoned in an apartment and she hadn’t been signed over to the pound for adoption yet. We would later find out that her shrill bark was the most likely reason she was brought into the puppy pound. Phew… Just saying. So, disappointed, we walked back to the kennel to say goodbye to this adorable dog. Just then, as if fate had sent us to her and her to us, the gentleman talking to the chihuahua puppy next to her said that she was his dog and asked us, “Do you want her?”
And the rest is history.
Tyler has taught us so many lessons about patience and understanding. We are so grateful to have her in our lives.

Here, at Doc’s Doggy Daycare, we pride ourselves on providing excellent pet care for your amazing fur babies and we are SO excited to announce that we found some wonderful people to help us do just that!
Doc and I met Lizz through completely random circumstance at one of our favorite restaurants. Oddly enough, it was just a whim that we went that evening and, funny story, Lizz thought we were mystery shoppers!
Before dining, one of our long-term clients was leaving the same restaurant and we flagged her down for conversation. Lizz patiently waited while we wrapped up our chat with our amazing client, and provided us with great service as we ate our delicious meal.
Whenever Doc and I go out, we like to get to know the person that is helping us on the other side of the proverbial counter, so we struck up a conversation. Lizz told us that she was looking for a bit more freelance income and had recently signed up on a website to connect her to pet sitting clients.
Faster than you can say “Doc’s Doggy Daycare” we had a lightbulb moment. This wonderfully caring and extremely genuine individual could be the answer to a prayer for us, our business, and our family. We told her about Rover.com and presented her with the opportunity to mentor her on the ways of pet sitting.
Well, now, we’d like to introduce you to Lizz and Bradley S.
One of the challenges we’ve faced while on this path has been not having enough availability for our existing clients’ needs and not having a vetted, trusted sitter to refer to our clients for help. We love your pets like our own and want to make sure we find the best person, or in this case, persons, to recommend.
Well, this is no longer a struggle because we found Lizz, she found us… We found each other! And now, we hope that you will find her too.
Schedule your meet and greet with Lizz and Bradley today through Rover.com!
As we celebrate our first year here, we want to take a moment to look back and reflect on what we have accomplished.
This past year has been amazing! We have met countless wonderful people and pets. Our awesome clients, that’s YOU, have helped to elevate our little operation from a dream to the best darn Doggy Daycare in the Winchester area.
We cannot thank you enough for trusting us with your fur babies and for not being quiet about it. Our positive five-star reviews are the most common reason that people contact us for a Meet & Greet. Thank you!
As we’ve grown our business, we have reached several important milestones. To continue providing excellent and attentive service, we find it necessary to institute a couple of new policy changes. Please feel free to contact us by phone, private message, or on our Facebook page if you have any questions about the new policies.
Effective June 1, 2018:
Doc’s Doggy Daycare will take a hiatus from providing regular check-in services. This will allow us to focus more on the dogs that are boarding in our home, as well as devote more time to our family life.
We are looking into the possibility of taking on an individual to assist us with this workload; however, as we pride ourselves on our reputation of being the premiere Rover.com option in the Winchester area, this process is anticipated to be thorough and lengthy. We want to find the right person to assist us and our clients.
UPDATE! We’re so happy to announce Lizz and Bradley! We cannot brag enough about these two phenomenal people! Click on their Rover.com link here to schedule your meet and greet today for all your check-in and dog walking needs!
Check-ins will still be available, but only in emergency situations. We encourage you to find a backup option and, believe us when we find someone that is suitable, we will definitely let our existing clients know.
In keeping with the trend of consistently providing excellent and attentive service, while heeding the advice of our long-term clients, and staying competitive in the growing market, our prices will undergo a restructure.
Daycare will increase from $20 to $25.
Overnight boarding will increase from $25 to $30 a night.
Housesitting services will increase from $40 to $60 a night.
Check-in services will increase from $15 to $25 a visit.
Dog walks will now be booked as check-ins.
Any services booked prior to June 1st will be booked on the previous pricing structure.
Drop-off, Pick-up, and daycare hours will be instituted to help us create a predictable environment for our family and our boarding clients. Daycare will be available from 7am to 7pm. Drop-off times will be between 4pm and 7pm, and pick-up times will be between 7am and 10am.
We understand that these hours may not always be convenient for everyone, and we are certainly willing to flex outside those hours, but please understand that a daycare charge will be added to the stay.
All clients dropping off their dogs for daycare or overnight boarding will be required to furnish a hard copy of the dog’s vaccination record, be kept on file, showing the following up-to-date immunizations:
Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
DHPPV (Canine Distemper)
All dogs arriving for care at Doc’s Doggy Daycare must be current on flea and tick preventive treatments. If we determine during the visit the dog needs preventative treatment, we will apply a tick or flea treatment, of our choosing, at the owner’s expense. Currently, we are using Tick Off from Young Living Essential Oils.
All clients dropping off their dogs for daycare or overnight boarding will be required to review and sign a liability waiver annually. This document will help to communicate the rules and policies here at Doc’s Doggy Daycare so that everyone has the same expectations of the services they will receive.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We truly would not be here without our amazing clients and their furry family members. We look forward to helping you with your pet sitting needs in 2018 and beyond!
